DIY Christmas Wreath

Where to start first on your DIY Christmas wreath..

To embark on this project, start by deciding the size of your wreath. You can choose between a large 18″ or a smaller 14″ wire wreath frame. These frames, available at the dollar store for a mere $1.25, make for an affordable foundation for your creative venture.

Next, consider the material for your wreath. Raid your closet for an old flannel shirt you no longer use, or head to a thrift store like Goodwill for a cost-effective find. Traditional red and black, or classic black and white flannel shirts work exceptionally well for this project, providing that cozy, timeless holiday look.

For the wreath creation process, opt for men’s XL size flannel shirts, ensuring sufficient width and length for the sleeves. The XL size is ideal for crafting wreaths of varying sizes. For an 18″ wreath, you’ll need approximately 4 sleeves, while a 14″ wreath requires only 2 sleeves.

To assemble the wreath, follow these simple steps:

  1. Remove the sleeves from the main part of the shirt.
  2. Cut 3″ wide strips of quilt batting matching the length of each sleeve.
  3. Hot Glue the quilt batting strips to the sleeves using a hot glue gun.
  4. Position the sleeves, button side down, on a table, and place the wire wreath frame on top.
  5. Fold the edges over the wire wreath, securing them in the middle with hot glue.
  6. Avoid gluing the cuff initially, allowing room for the next sleeve to overlap.
  7. Repeat the process until all sleeves are securely glued for both wreaths.
  8. Add a festive touch with a bow or bells.

Complete your project by hanging the wreath using a durable door hanger. Consider the Hearth & Hand door hanger, known for its durability and versatility with wreaths of various sizes.
